Tune in for the live performance of “The Importance of Being Earnest”, Oscar Wilde’s “trivial play for serious people”, a fast-paced comedy driven by eccentric characters and witty dialogues.
About the play:
Jack Worthing is, mostly, a very upstanding and respectable young country squire. Occasionally however, Jack needs a breather for the rigors of his stoic, righteous lifestyle. Adopting the identity of his rakish, fictitious brother Earnest, Jack has managed to enjoy couple of jovial days in London.
Unbeknownst to Jack, his affluent friend Algernon Moncrieff is himself no stranger to alter egos and made-up friends. In fact, Algy uses such tricks rather frequently to dodge dreadful social obligations burdened upon him by his domineering Aunt Augusta.
The two bachelors soon become entangled in their own tales of deception and disguise, as both Jack’s darling Gwendolen and Algy’s sweet angel Cecily are certain: Their hearts belong only to Earnest…
